TREATMENT OPTIONS:

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) With Methadone

Methadone has 50 years of demonstrated effectiveness in patients with opioid use disorder. It provides the following benefits during treatment:

  • Reduces cravings and withdrawal symptoms
  • Decreases the euphoric effects of other opioids
  • Provides structure through daily visits at the beginning of treatment
  • Manages withdrawal in patients with a high tolerance
  • Acts as a safe treatment option for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers
  • Stays active for 24 to 36 hours

When you feel fewer withdrawal symptoms and cravings, it makes it easier to work toward recovery. You can focus on your goals and have a higher chance of staying committed to your treatment.

Individual and Group Therapy

The MAT program at HCRC Chicopee includes comprehensive counseling services. We combine one-on-one and group therapy services to support you in the emotional aspects of recovery.

Individual therapy gives you the tools you need to manage your symptoms and handle stressful situations. Your sessions act as a safe place for you to talk about your past problems and how they impact you today. Many patients have past traumas or mental health symptoms that contribute to their opioid use disorder. By discovering these causes and teaching recovery skills, your counselor will help you work toward a brighter future.

During group counseling, you will find solidarity with others going through recovery. In your sessions, you and other patients will have a discussion, led by a trained counselor. These appointments give you the chance to connect with your peers in recovery and share coping skills. You can hold each other accountable in an accepting and compassionate environment.

Additional Support From HCRC Chicopee

The program at HCRC Chicopee features services that manage further aspects of recovery and community health. This extra support includes:

  • Coordinated Pregnancy Treatment: Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers can have a safe recovery through our MAT program. Your care team will coordinate your services to improve you and your child’s well-being. They will consider both of you during treatment.
  • Referrals to Community Resources: Many patients need help with housing, food or other necessities in life. We can direct you to community organizations that can help you meet these needs. You can build a support network of community resources to improve your quality of life.
  • Overdose Education and Prevention: Our staff teaches patients and community members about naloxone, a rescue medicine that reverses an opioid overdose. They demonstrate how to use it in its various forms and where to find it. Knowing the facts about naloxone could help these people save lives.

Patients can reach our clinic by taking the G1 bus to one of two PVTA stops located on Center Street. You may qualify for PT-1 transportation through your medical or mental health provider.
